We are "blessed to be a blessing." That's what our Pastor said a few Sundays ago. I am blessed with salvation not just for myself alone; I am saved so that I can lead others to salvation in Christ. I am blessed with knowledge or experience or skill so that I can help, teach, guide others in their spiritual lives. I am blessed with money so that I can bless others who have financial needs.
"Blessed to be a blessing," he said.
Blessed with joy to spread that joy around.
Blessed with peace to hold the hands of others plagued with fear & anxiety.
Blessed with faith to lift up those who are drowning in despair.
Blessed with hope to give those who feel hopeless someone to hang onto to.
All that I have is a gift from You, Lord. Like that old hymn says, "Make me a blessing to someone today!"
Make Me A Blessing by Words by Ira B. Wilson, Music by George S. Schuler
Out on the highways and byways of life,
Many are the weary and sad;
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,
Making the sorrowing glad.
Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love,
Tell of His pow'r to forgive;
Others will trust Him if only you prove
True every moment you live.
Give as 'twas given to you in your need,
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed,
Unto your mission be true.
Make me a blessing, Make me a blessing,
Out of my life may Jesus shine.
Make me a blessing, O, Savior, I pray
Make me a blessing to someone today!
Sing it. Say it. Pray it. Do it, Little One. In 2009 be on the lookout for your chance to be a blessing to someone else each day.
