J. and I went to the polls and voted Friday. There was a steady stream of Americans going inside the beautiful new fire station to exercise their right-and their power-to vote. What a great privilege this is, Lord. We live in a country where we CAN have a voice in the affairs of this land. It may be a very small voice-but it is a voice.
Some people think their one small voice doesn't really count so why bother to vote. Lord, wake those folks up. Make them see that this privilege of voting for those who lead this nation, this state, this county or municipality, is HUGE.
A huge privilege that people around the globe are bleeding and dying to obtain.
A huge privilege that Americans are defending around the globe.
A huge responsibility that determines the future for us, for our children and our grandchildren, for our nation.
Lord, give us wisdom to research the candidates and issues, and to vote our consciences. Help us to vote issues not personalities. Help us to vote for what is right and good for our nation, not what we think will be good for our pocketbooks.
Help us to weigh the future consequences of NOT voting and of voting amiss.
Lord, forgive our laziness and cowardice as free citizens and give us courage to vote the way You want us to vote. Help us, Lord, not to shirk our responsibility, not to disrespect our privilege, to vote.
And, Lord, heal our Land.
If My people, who are called by My name (Christ-ians), will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their own wicked ways, I will heal their land. That's a promise, Little One. If the Christians in America will do their part, I'll do mine.
Think about that.
